Married to HIV-positive...and I'm OK!

I am married to an HIV-positive man. I am ok with it, and I can repeat it a million times. But half a year ago my life was unbearable. Before I met Alex I was married, but it fell apart. Now I understand that I didn’t love my ex-husband. I was probably just waiting to meet the person I was meant to be with all along. When I met Alex, we were both divorced. We liked each other, had sex, and started living together. I had never been so happy! I realized he was the love of my life. I kept thinking it was too good to be true - something had to go wrong. And it did. One evening he told me the truth. He had been HIV positive for 10 years. To say I was in shock is an understatement. For days and days I was dead to the world. I cried when he went to work, called hotlines, and the worst thing was that I couldn’t discuss it with anybody. What could I do? I loved him but I didn’t know if I wanted to take the risks. HIV equals Death, that’s what everyone always said. I don’t know how I lived though that month. But I believe that God heard me and brought me to my senses. My head cleared up and the sense of reality came back.
I love and I am loved, and HIV is just a disease people live with, not an automatic death sentence. We got married two months ago, and I don’t regret a thing.
